  • Registration and Membership
    • What do I need to qualify to join OpinionBar?
    • Almost everybody can participate in our surveys. Subscription is free, and open to everyone age 14 years or older.
    • Will I receive emails from third parties?
    • No, absolutely not. As an OpinionBar member, you will only receive invitations from OpinionBar for our own surveys. We will not lend, rent, or sell your contact details to other organizations.
    • How can I receive more invitations for surveys?
    • Make sure you complete all profile surveys. The more information we have about you, the more relevant surveys we can send you.
    • Can everyone in our household participate?
    • Yes, everyone in your household can participate in the OpinionBar panel, as long as they are older than 14, and have registered with OpinionBar using their own personal details.
    • Can I change my email address?
    • Enter your new email address on the "My Details" page; check your new mail account, and click the confirm link in the email we sent. Once confirmed, you will receive our invitations in your new account.
    • Do you have problems logging in?
    • If you forget your password during registration, simply request a new password through the I cannot access my account link, which is located under the Login button at the right

      If you have forgotten the email address you used during registration, please fill in the form below and provide your full name, date of birth, and address details. Our support team will be able to help you.
    • Why can't I change my gender, date of birth, or country?
    • This is because we assume that your gender and date of birth won't change during your membership. If, however, you accidentally submitted the wrong details during sign up, please complete the form below and we will help you further. If you have moved to another country we can change that for you too.
    • How does OpinionBar use my personal details?
    • Your name, street address, email address, and date of birth are classed as "recognizable personal information" and will never be shared, rent, traded, or sold with third parties. Postal code, city, gender, and year of birth can be used to invite you for targeted surveys (e.g. for a survey about public transport in your area). Participation in surveys is always anonymous and your name, email address, and street address will never be passed on to third parties. Read more in our privacy policy.
    • How does OpinionBar protect my privacy?
    • Your privacy is extremely important to us. We will never share, lend, or sell your personal details to third parties, and participation in our surveys is always anonymous. Furthermore, our website uses SSL, which is the industry standard to encrypt data before it's sent over the web.
    • I do not want to receive spam, is OpinionBar safe?
    • Yes it is. As a member you'll only be invited for surveys by OpinionBar, and your email address will never be shared with clients or third parties. Also, we will not send you offers on behalf of third parties. As a member you will only receive our invitations and our newsletter in your email account.
    • Can I unsubscribe from OpinionBar?
    • We hope you won't want to unsubscribe from OpinionBar, but if you choose to leave the community it is very easy. Simply fill in the account removal form. Please note that it is not possible to recover your account afterwards, but of course you are free to subscribe again in the future.
  • Participation in a survey
    • How often can I participate?
    • We aim to invite you for a survey at least once a month.
    • How will I know there is a survey I can participate in?
    • You will receive an email inviting you to participate in the survey. You can also view the survey invitations you've been sent at your personal page at "My Surveys".
    • How long does the average survey take?
    • The length of surveys varies and we will always give you an estimate of the length in our email invitation. Most surveys are completed within ten minutes.
    • What do I get for participating in a survey?
    • Depending on the length of the survey and the desired target group, we'll credit your account USD 1.00 to USD 50.00 once you complete the survey. Make sure to fill in all profile surveys to receive invitations for surveys with higher rewards. If you don't belong to the target group, your account will be credited with a lower amount. (See next question).
    • Why did I not get the total reward?
    • For some surveys, we are looking for a specific target group (e.g. vegetarians, frequent flyers, or students). If you do not belong to this group, the survey stops after a few questions (usually less than a minute) and your account is credited with a smaller reward (usually USD 0.10)

      Please participate in all profile surveys so we can better tailor your invitations for surveys.
    • I haven't received any survey invitations.
    • There could be several reasons for this. Firstly, please make sure that you have added helpdesk@opinionbar.com to your address book and/or white list to avoid invitations ending up in your junk-mail folder. Secondly, please make sure that you participate in our profiler surveys. Finally, if you haven't responded to our survey invitations for six months, you will be excluded from receiving new invitations until you log on to the website and participate in a profile survey.
  • Payments
    • How do I get paid?
    • Log on to your user account, go to "My Details" and enter your bank information. Please fill in all required fields. This includes your bank name, bank branch location, the account information (for some countries this includes your IBAN number and BIC code).
    • How can I request a payment?
    • Visit "My Rewards" in your personal account. When your account has reached USD 10.00 or higher you can create a payment order or donate the money to a charity.
    • When will I receive my payment?
    • Payments are processed in the first week of every month, and it can take up to six weeks before it appears on your statements, depending on the country you live in.
    • I have not received my payment, what should I do?
    • Firstly, check whether your payment is listed as failed or pending; in this case you will have to either submit the correct payment details or wait until your payment is processed. If you still are unsure, please contact the help desk.
    • Where can I find my IBAN and BIC code?
    • Usually, your IBAN number and BIC code are located at the bottom of your bank statement.
    • What is my IBAN number?
    • These are your international bank details. The IBAN number is an internationalized version of your bank account number. As OpinionBar payments are issued in the Netherlands, we need these details to send you your money.
    • What is my BIC code?
    • The BIC code identifies your bank branch. Sometimes the BIC code is also referred to as SWIFT code. In case you can not find the BIC code of your bank, check if a SWIFT code is provided. When this is not the case, please consult your bank for your BIC code.
  • Other Questions
    • What is the relationship between OpinionBar and UKopinion?
    • OpinionBar is run by MetrixLab BV, an international online market research company. UKopinion is a panel that was operated by Virtual Surveys; a UK-based Market Research Company. In 2005, Virtual Surveys merged its panel with that of OpinionBar in order to improve the quality of service provided to its panellists.
